UK train network offers nationwide connectivity, and it is one-off the fastest way to travel if you have direct connectivity to your destination. There are various websites; however, the national website should be first choice, and the other popular one is Trainline. Tickets can also be bought at the airport, train stations or ticket vending machines. However, before you try, it will be useful to know the different types of tickets offered by train companies:
Advance – Cheapest or lowest-priced and only offered if booked in advance, it is also offered only on the specific train (selected time and journey route)
Off-peak – tickets booked under this category are only valid from 09:30 to 16:00 hrs and after 19:00 hrs (with few exceptions depending on the journey)
Anytime – You can travel anytime during the day without any restriction or route between selected route (start and end of the destination, with few exceptions, always check with train companies)
First Class – offers the best comfort seats and are the most expensive, some trains may also provide free hot drinks.
Return journey tickets, i.e. travel to the destination and back to the starting point, are priced competitively.
